Branch was 25 years old when he died in 1991.
He was a stubborn sweetheart who loved leather,
needlepoint, and twisted jokes.
He lost the sight
in one eye about five years previously when
he
was beaten with a chain in an unprovoked gay bashing,
but
he somehow never let that get the best of him.
If
you're not offended by erotic photographs, you may want to check
out
his picture
from a popular male magazine from 1990.
He
also had a GREAT talent for ear-wiggling!

Dan died over Thanksgiving weekend of 1992.
His real passions in life were his motorcycle, Horror
and Sci-Fi movies,
and letting his alter ego,
the fabulous "Thora Zeen",
out on Halloween.
Mark left us in September of 1993.
Always
on the go and never still for more than a few minutes,
Mark
was always in the middle of some scheme, juicy piece of gossip,
or getting dressed
up for Halloween with his longtime roommate, Dan (AKA Thora
Zeen)
Bill left this earth on the first day of spring
in 1986.
He had a collection of pigs in all shapes
and sizes,
and would be the first in line to see
a John Water's movie or to hear a sick joke.
Towards
the end, when he was very ill, he graciously allowed himself to
be videotaped
for a company film about dealing
with AIDS in the workplace.
Produced by the Levi
Company and PacBell,
it was one of the first such
sensitivity-training films made on the subject.
Brad was a great artist whose life and talent
was cut much too short.
He had a style and flair
that moved many people, both in his art and in his day to day
life.
If he wasn't creating another masterpiece
in oils or acrylics,
then he could probably be
found whizzing through Golden Gate Park on his bicycle.
Here
is the first oil painting (43"X60")
that I ever bought from him.
Here is another one
of his paintings, an acrylic. This
one is in my living room (50"X74")
Victor died on December 31, 1993.
On
that day, the world lost another talented artist and
loving
human being. He created beautiful sculptures
with
his hands and lasting friendships with his compassion.
He
could often be seen in advertisements for Shanti or at the gym
working out.
Michael was the last to die out of his remaining
closest network of friends in August of 1990.
Another
great artist whose talent was just becoming recognized,
Michael
finally realized his dream of going to Paris a few months before
he died.
Here is the acrylic
painting (24"X36") that he gave me for Christmas
one year.
(The photographs on the
right were taken about ten years ago..
I was pulling
up Michael's shirt for the the guy with the camera!)

George was a guy who loved easily and often.
He squeezed all that he could out of life and nobody
that ever met him could forget him.
Hailing
from Lima, Peru, he traveled the world, settling in
San
Francisco working as a travel agent until he made his final departure
one week before the Gay Pride parade in 1992.

Nicolas..He made his way from Cuba to Miami...on to New York ,
and eventually to San Francisco, where I was lucky
enough to meet him,
get to know him, and call
him my friend.
Of course, HIS best friend is his
cute little Yorky, Lolly.
Nicolas left us on August
9, 1996,
to join his lover who died several years earlier.
He
will be missed by many....

Carl Sterner Van Hollebeke
My friend Carl...before he moved to Hawaii,
which was before hemoved to Japan,
which
was just prior to his move back home to Seattle, he lived here
in San Francisco.
He loved diamonds, travel and
FINALLY became a Democrat!
He died at 7:30 am
on January 21, 2000 from complications due to AIDS.
I'll
miss you, Carl!
